About us
Our mission is to empower neurodiverse individuals and their families by fostering connections, providing strengths-based education, and promoting inclusivity in a supportive community.
aTypical Community is a virtual platform for neurodiverse individuals and families, a place to make peer connections and find accurate, strengths-based educational content, with programming that is relevant, accessible, and identity-affirming regardless of ability status, race, ethnicity, or language. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Briana Traina, PhD
Briana Traina, PhD, is a clinical psychologist whose work focuses on supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals and their families. She is especially passionate about making reliable information and meaningful support easier to access, from helping families navigate a new autism diagnosis to building more equitable, community-based systems of care. She brings experience working across healthcare, education, research, and community settings. As Board President, she hopes to help aTypical Community grow as a welcoming, trusted community where neurodivergent people and those who support them can connect, learn, and belong. When she isn't working, Bri enjoys sailing with her family, gardening in her backyard, and getting lost in Harry Potter audiobooks.
